The problem with homeless youth is disheartening when thinking how young they are and most of them being a part of the LGBTQ+ as well. When thinking of homelessness, no one’s first thought is kids or young adults or them being part of a community that is a safe space in this country. I think the problem is that there isn’t any broadcast of this situation that is affecting so many Canadians. If we invested more PSAs on this rather than telling teens not to vape, I think we would find a solution. It would be shown to a greater audience and make Torontonians realize what is going on in the streets of their city. Although drugs are controversial and should be talked about, I think kids dying of hypothermia, starvation and dehydration is a much bigger issue. With countries like Finland having found a solution to homelessness, countries like Canada should do the same when they have a bigger problem with their next-generation sleeping by a mail post. Especially with Toronto’s history of bad treatment against the homeless, there should be a discussion on what to do to fix this problem.
